Cross-Country: Blackhawks' Meyle Races to Title

West Aurora cross-country runner Elisia Meyle called the course at Harris Forest Preserve in Yorkville "rough."
Yet the slim junior navigated the twists and turns of the wooded trail with the precision of surgeon, bursting into the clearing of the final stretch with a sizable lead.
Meyle finished first in a time of 18:53 on the 2.95-mile course, seven seconds ahead of Downers Grove South senior Grace Magliola in Wednesday's European Meet.
"I started out kind of far back and was a little disappointed, but I was sort of picking people off the whole race. I was trying to pass Grace most of the race and then I got her on one of the straightaways and she didn't pass me again."
