Redhawks Early Goal Sinks West Aurora
September 8, 2009 BY EDDIE BURNS -- FOR THE SUN
Fans barely had a chance to get settled into their seats when No. 2 Naperville Central's Chris Prince started the scoring.
Prince began Tuesday's match at West Aurora by sending a shot 55 yards in the air and into the West Aurora net, stunning goalie Abel Diaz.
"When you have great players who recognize what is going on down on the field these things happen," said Central coach Jay Konrad, whose team dealt West its first loss of the season. "West's goalie was playing high and Chris hit a beauty of a ball. Even if the goalie was in the right position, Prince might have scored."
West Aurora coach Joe Sustersic was disappointed at how the match started.
"When you have a goalie out of position and it results in that type of goal that was no way to start the match," Sustersic said. "That is just the shooter and the goalie. It was a great shot by Prince and it deflated us immediately."
